Why I'm walking in March for Babies

Every day, thousands of babies are born too soon, too small and often very sick. I'm walking in March for Babies because I want to do something about this. And I need your help.

My daughter, Kailyn, was born 5 weeks early, in July 2010. She weighed 5 pounds 12 ounces and was 18 3/4 inches long. She had some breathing problems and had to stay in the NICU at INOVA Loudoun Hospital in Lansdowne, VA. Luckily, the hospital was only 10 minutes away from where we lived and we could visit her two or three times a day! She began breathing on her own within two days and just had a feeding tube. She had problems learning to eat. We learned a lot of information from the NICU nurses and also about March of Dimes. The best day in the NICU was when my sister, Brittany (who is also walking) came to visit. I took her into see Kailyn and we were told that she was going home the next day! The greatest feeling was knowing that I could finally take my baby home and raise her. Thanks to the great nursing staff in the NICU and the March of Dimes, I was able to show my daughter her new home :)

Last year, our family walked in Blair County, PA (where I grew up). We had a goal of $500 and raised over $700! This year our goal is $1,000. Please support my walk. Making a secure donation is easy: just click the 'donate now' button on this page. Thank you for helping me give all babies a healthy start!
