Holiday Bazaar

Kailyn's Kruisers attended the Holiday Bazaar at the Altoona Curve last Saturday. We did pretty good for selling christmas ornaments, baked goods, and baby blankets/hats. We raised over $350! Kailyn enjoyed herself. Steamer Claus (one of the Curve mascots dressed as Santa) arrived at the ballpark via helicopter. She was excited to see the helicopter but didn't care about Steamer. This event is just one of the many that my team will do to reach our goal of $2,500 by May 5th, 2013.

My team was created in honor of mt daughter, Kailyn, who was born 5 weeks early. Here are just a few reasons why I MARCH FOR BABIES:

  • The March of Dimes helps moms have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies. And if something goes wrong, we offer information and comfort to families.
  • Preterm birth is a big problem – more than half a million babies are born too soon in the United States each year.
  • Each year, premature birth costs the United States more than $26 billion. The average medical costs for a preterm baby is more than 10 times higher than for a healthy, full-term baby.
  • The March of Dimes is all about babies, those born healthy, those who need help to survive and those who didn’t go home.
  • March for Babies is the largest March of Dimes event and the nation’s favorite walking fundraiser.
  • More than 20,000 companies and 7 million people participate in 900 communities.
  • We’ve been walking since 1970 and, with everyone’s help, have raised more than $2 billion to improve the health of babies.
  • Walk to celebrate, honor or remember babies who have touched your life.
